Rob Neilson

Prior to joining Post Oak Energy Capital as a Senior Advisor, Mr. Neilson worked for various upstream and mid-stream companies, including Miller Exploration, Calpine Natural Gas, CMR Energy, Red Arrow Energy, Swift Energy Operating and Marathon Oil, in land management roles, associated with both conventional and unconventional drilling programs.

With over thirty years of experience and over two thousand wells drilled, Mr. Neilson has been accountable for all land activities, including managing brokers and outside attorneys for lease and title procurement, securing title curative necessary for pre and post drilling, picking optimal locations for drilling, facilities, flowlines, securing right-of-way, managing land, land administration, regulatory and operations departments for compliance with contractual obligations. Mr. Neilson has widespread experience preparing/negotiating agreements, including operating agreements, farmout agreements, production sharing agreements, surface use agreements, custom oil and gas leases common in south Texas along with marketing agreements. In addition to the land management roles, Mr. Neilson has been responsible for Business Development activities, including the completion of several billion in acquisitions and divestitures. Mr. Neilson possesses a comprehensive knowledge of evaluating acquisitions, purchase and sale agreements, construction of dataroom materials for divestitures, and all other associated A&D contracts.  Earlier positions include working as a field landman, land administrator, and land tech.

Mr. Neilson is a Certified Professional Landman and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Petroleum Land Management with a minor in Geology.
